Garments Campaign
This workshop will focus on the ethics of consumerism in the textile and fashion industry, a world leader in exploitation. The lamentable situation of many forced to work to support current styles and trends will be examined, including the reality of outworkers here in Australia. The role of Fairwear will be explored as an organisation and movement which seeks to combat these kinds of worldwide injustices, and encourages others to do the same. Those who attend will gain greater understanding of the ethics involved in the fashion industry, be equipped with the skills to be conscious consumers, and inspired to advocate for change.

Soccer World Cup Campaign
The Soccer World Cup is the most watched sports event in the world, takes place every four years, and is coming up this year in June. For the first time in over thirty years, Australia has qualified to participate, which means that come June, Australia will be overtaken by soccer fever. This year is the first time that FAIRTRADE Labeled Soccer balls, made in Pakistan, are available in Australia and New Zealand. This World Cup provides us with a once in a lifetime event to campaign around and raise awareness of the oppression to be found in the production of sport apparel and equipment. This session will construct a strategy to campaign around this event. Discussion will be aided by Hamish Broome of Etiko, the importer of Australia and New Zealand's FAIRTRADE Labeled soccer balls.

Food Service Providers (FSP) Campaign
Many of the Australian high school and university campuses' food products are provided by single companies who only stock select brands capable of fulfilling nation-wide orders. Approaching these massive corporations requires a specific strategy that involves working closely with Fair Trade businesses and NGOs. The experience of the American student Fair Trade movement contributed to both removing unethical FSPs and forcing others to offer Fair Trade alternatives. This session will focus on developing tactics that can be used for national-level campaigning

High School Campaign
The significant number of high school students attending Connections is reason enough in itself to offer a session solely focused on this campaigning group. Recently produced educational materials by FTAANZ and Oxfam groups attests to the unmined potential of secondary school students. This session will aim to galvanise the as-yet independent groups campaigning in pockets around ANZ through experience-sharing, brainstorming and relationship-building.
